Educational programmes
The Vis Archipelago UNESCO Global Geopark implements a variety of educational programmes aimed at introducing the geological, natural, and cultural heritage of the archipelago to visitors, the local community, and educational institutions.
The programmes combine fieldwork, interpretative activities, workshops, and lectures through which participants gain insight into the processes that have shaped the Vis Archipelago and the importance of preserving its natural and cultural heritage.
Educational programmes are designed for different groups:
Children and pupils
Workshops and field activities adapted for preschool and school-age groups, introducing basic geological processes, marine ecosystems, and the natural characteristics of the archipelago in a simple and interactive way.
Students and researchers
Professional guided tours, field visits, and collaborations with educational and scientific institutions that provide a more in-depth understanding of the geological structure and natural features of the area.
Visitors and the general public
Interpretative lectures and presentations that introduce the natural and cultural heritage of the Vis Archipelago.
Professional groups
Specialised programmes and presentations designed for experts, institutions, and organisations interested in the geological, natural, and cultural heritage of the area.
Educational activities take place in the Vis Archipelago Geopark Visitor Centre in Komiža, in the field through visits to geosites and geotrails, and in cooperation with local schools, institutions, and partners.
Programmes can be adapted to the needs of specific groups, educational institutions, or organisations.
