Notice on environmentally responsible behaviour

The Vis Archipelago is a unique island area surrounded by the open sea. Due to its highly indented coastline and the remoteness of certain islands and coves, waste collection and transportation present a particular challenge.

The Towns of Vis and Komiža, through their municipal utility companies, provide regular waste collection services in the inhabited parts of the islands of Vis and Biševo, as well as in certain coves. In more remote or difficult-to-access parts of the archipelago, clean-up activities are carried out periodically or seasonally, depending on available capacities and resources.

We kindly ask all visitors to take any waste they generate with them when leaving the Geopark and, whenever possible, to reduce the amount of unnecessary waste they produce. The best waste is the waste that is never created.

Through our shared responsibility and care, we can preserve the natural beauty of the Vis Archipelago and ensure that future generations can experience it in its original state.
