Project description and objectives:
The "Interpretation and promotion of the geoheritage of the Vis Archipelago UNESCO Global Geopark" project is focused on improving the interpretation of natural and cultural heritage and increasing the visibility and recognition of the Vis Archipelago as a sustainable tourist destination.

The project connects on-site heritage interpretation with the promotion of the geopark from the moment visitors travel to the island. As part of the project, new educational and interpretive panels will be designed and installed to introduce visitors to the geological, natural and cultural values of the Vis Archipelago UNESCO Global Geopark.

In addition, promotional activities will be carried out on ferry routes to the island of Vis. A promotional poster will be displayed on board, along with a promotional and educational video presenting the Vis Archipelago UNESCO Global Geopark, its heritage, key sites and visitor offer.

The goal of the project is to provide visitors with a better understanding of the area they are visiting, increase the availability of information about geoheritage, and further promote the Vis Archipelago as a destination recognized for its exceptional geological heritage, natural values, and status as a UNESCO Global Geopark.

The project contributes to the development of sustainable tourism, raising awareness about the importance of preserving natural heritage, and developing a tourism product based on geoheritage, education, and the authentic values of the area.

Expected results:

1. Improved interpretation of geological, natural, and cultural heritage at geopark sites.
2. Greater availability of information about the values and amenities of the Geopark for domestic and international visitors.
3. Increased visibility and recognition of the Vis Archipelago UNESCO Global Geopark as a tourist destination.
4. Strengthened visitor awareness regarding the value and need for the preservation of natural and geological heritage.
5. Contribution to the development of a sustainable tourism product based on geoheritage and educational content.

Total project value: 11,047.98 EUR

Grant approved by the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board: 1,300.00 EUR

Vis Archipelago Geopark budget: 9,747.98 EUR
