ASPeH: Geopark Vis Archipelago at an international event on the future of the Adriatic in Bari

Geopark Vis Archipelago participated on March 25, 2026, in Bari, Italy, in an international event dedicated to the future of the Adriatic Sea, sustainable development of coastal areas, and the protection of marine ecosystems.

Participation was realized within the framework of the project ASPeH – Adriatic Species and Habitats of coastal areas, in which Geopark Vis Archipelago participates as an associated partner.

The event brought together institutions, experts, and stakeholders from several countries in the Adriatic region with the aim of exchanging knowledge, experiences, and examples of good practice in the field of marine protection, coastal habitats, and sustainable management of natural resources.

Special emphasis was placed on biodiversity protection, mitigating the impacts of climate change, restoring marine ecosystems, and improving the management of Natura 2000 areas through cross-border cooperation. In this context, topics related to the new EU Regulation 1991/2024 and its role in the restoration of natural ecosystems were presented and discussed.

Participation in such events is important for strengthening international cooperation, connecting institutions, and developing common approaches to preserving the Adriatic Sea as an exceptionally valuable and sensitive natural area.

Geopark Vis Archipelago continues to actively participate in projects and initiatives that contribute to the protection of marine biodiversity, the sustainable development of coastal communities, and the preservation of the Adriatic's natural heritage.
