ANNOUNCEMENT: Festival of Croatian UNESCO Global Geoparks 2026 in Vis Archipelago Geopark

From April 9 to 12, 2026, the Vis Archipelago Geopark will host the Festival of Croatian UNESCO Global Geoparks, an event that will gather representatives of Croatian and international geoparks, experts, local producers, and visitors interested in geo-heritage, sustainable development, and the cultural identity of the area on the island of Vis.

During the four-day program, participants can look forward to field tours of the Vis Archipelago UNESCO Global Geopark, a professional conference, educational lectures, promotion of local products from Croatian geoparks, and an exchange of experiences and best practices in heritage protection and interpretation.

The program includes a tour of Biševo Island, a visit to the Blue Cave and the Blue Cave – Biševo Visitor Center, a session of the National Commission for UNESCO Global Geoparks, and a professional conference to be held at Hrvatski dom in Vis. The conference will be attended by representatives of Croatian and international institutions, geoparks, and organizations, who will present topics related to geo-heritage, cultural heritage, sustainable development, and spatial interpretation through their lectures.

A special part of the program will take place on Saturday, April 11, on the Komiža waterfront, where a Fair of Products from Croatian UNESCO Global Geoparks, featuring local products, traditional stories, and the identity of various Croatian regions. The evening program continues with a concert and social gathering in Komiža.

The festival represents an important opportunity for connecting geoparks, strengthening cooperation among institutions, and promoting the values of UNESCO Global Geoparks as areas where natural heritage, science, education, and the local community converge.
